Reconomy acquires German-based GfAW
- GfAW provides disposal and recycling routes for complex and challenging industrial waste streams for construction and demolition companies across Germany, Italy and France
- Acquisition adds new capabilities and strengthens Reconomy’s ability to provide circular solutions for customers with difficult waste streams.
Reconomy announces the acquisition of Gesellschaft für Abfallwirtschaft mbH (GfAW), a specialist asset-light provider of industrial waste management solutions based in Immenstaad, Germany.
Founded in 1993, GfAW arranges disposal and recycling pathways for complex industrial waste streams such as waste mineral wool, gypsym and other types of demolition materials. It serves a wide range of leading German, Italian and French construction and demolition companies as well as industrial manufacturers and commercial waste producers. GfAW works closely with its customers to recover sorted waste streams and has a strong track record in optimising recycling routes, coordinating downstream logistics, and improving recycling economics to reduce net disposal costs. GfAW also has long-standing partner networks across the EU.
The acquisition strengthens Reconomy’s capabilities in managing complex industrial waste streams for customers across the EU and GfAW will be integrated into Reconomy Nordics’ operations further strengthening its regional platform.
The latest milestone for Reconomy comes on the back of a very strong year in 2025 which saw record growth in new business, strong revenue and earnings growth, five new acquisitions and the addition of a number of talented new colleagues..
