  • Reconomy Group company, Reverse Logistics GmbH (RLG) is taking over RENE AG, a German service company for compliance solutions in the field of recycling management / WEEE that has been established since 2005, with retrospective effect from January 1st, 2022
  • The takeover fits Reconomy Group’s strategy as an asset light company to further expand its leading role as a comprehensive provider of global compliance solutions
  • RENE complements Reconomy Group’srange of compliance schemes in Europe, offers attractive solutions for data management and payment services for customers in B2B and B2C markets
  • Through the acquisition, Reconomy Group’s Comply Division can now offer customers unique access to a high-quality, global recycling network and thus provide effective and environmentally friendly logistics solutions

Reconomy Group has acquired RENE AG, based in Eppishausen in the Allgäu, Germany. RENE AG has 17  years of experience in the field of electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and packaging regulations, operating in over 60 countries worldwide.

Reconomy Group’s Comply Division consists of Valpak (UK), Noventiz (Germany) and RLG (International, HQ in Germany), already providing a comprehensive global sustainability consultancy and environmental compliance service to major customers in all sectors. RENE AG will be primarily aligned to RLG, where the combination of complimentary services will bring significant benefit to customers. Both companies run WEEE and battery takeback systems and have networks of approved recyclers, so this move expands the overall geographical reach and capability. For example, RENE AG in Denmark operates its own take-back system for old electronic devices, while RLG has established itself in a large number of other countries in and outside of Europe.

RENE AG fits perfectly with the tech-enabled, asset-light model of Reconomy Group and beyond the WEEE, battery and compliance schemes will add further expertise in data management, reporting, consulting and payment services for B2B and B2C markets, resulting in customers across all industries being able to access everything they need under one roof.

Commenting on the acquisition, Patrick Wiedemann, CEO of RLG and Divisional CEO for Comply at Reconomy Group, said: “This deal is the next step in positioning Reconomy Group even more broadly and expanding our global footprint. The RENE is a great additionand culturally fits in perfectly with us due to the asset-light approach of theGroup and our Comply Division brands. In addition to the WEEE system in Denmark, the international recycling network is particularly exciting for us, but the combination  also offers significant potential all round in the other service areas and an expanded range of services for the customers of both companies ‚”

Maximilian Scheppach, CEO of RENE, added: “With their high standards, Reconomy Group and RLG will be an excellent partner for our customers, invest in our products and continue the traditional strength of RENE as a comprehensive provider with a high service orientation on a national and international level. International customers are also looking for efficient, unbureaucratic solutions for financing flows. To this end, RENE AG brings its many years of experience in reverse factoring to the cooperation”.

Reconomy Group CEO, Paul Cox, concluded: “The acquisition of RENE is part of our strategic roadmap to make Reconomy Group the leading global player for environmental compliance and sustainable solutions for the return of products and materials. We have enjoyed phenomenal recent growth in our Comply division, serving over 80 countries worldwide. We’re sure that the addition of RENE will strengthen our offering even further, helping us to work towards our purpose of creating a truly sustainable world by conserving finite resources. We warmly welcome all RENE colleagues into the Reconomy Group family”.
